¡Hola!

I’m Patricia. I have been a ballerina, a scientist, and a stay-at-home mom. I am working on adding published picture book author to that list!

Full Bio

I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico where I spent most afternoons at a ballet studio balancing on my tippy toes. After high school, science took center stage as I earned my B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and my Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Harvard University. Soon after graduation, my husband and I welcomed our daughter, Olivia, and I chose to become a stay-at-home mom.

One of the first presents Olivia received was a picture book, Olivia by Ian Falconer of course! And with it, my journey into the picture book world began. As our family grew (my Olivia also has two younger brothers), so did my admiration for the magic and the power of a good picture book. In 2022, when my youngest started school and I had a quiet house, I began my career as a picture book author. I joined SCBWI and became a student at Storyteller Academy.

As an author, I consider myself a simplifier of concepts and a connector of ideas. I enjoy the creative and intellectual challenges of writing a good picture book. But my favorite part is surprising my readers with unusual characters full of personality.
